2 Cold and Flu Remedy Teas

Having a cold or flu usually puts a damper on many peoples’ plans. No one enjoys feeling sick especially for an extended period of time. Fortunately, there are quite a few natural and homeopathic remedies that will help you to recover from the cold and flu symptoms like body ache, sore throat, sinus problems, cold, etc.

Turmeric Tea

If you suffer from really bad cold and flu symptoms, then this tea is excellent for you. A common flu symptom that many are familiar with is body aches. The turmeric in this tea is an anti-inflammatory and works great for sore muscles as it reduces any built up inflammation and bacteria in the body. Aside from turmeric, this tea also includes ginger, lemon, and honey. Honey works great for sore throats and helps alleviate coughs. The ginger is another anti-inflammatory. And, the lemon gives the tea a nice boost of vitamin C. Below is a recipe to this flu-busting turmeric tea.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Peppermint Tea

Another good tea to use for cold symptoms is peppermint tea. It also works well in clearing out the sinuses. According to Mercola, peppermint also helps to alleviate some abdominal pain and headaches (Mercola, 2019). The peppermint leaf is loaded with plenty of minerals and antioxidants. Not only is peppermint an antioxidant, but it is also antimicrobial and antiviral. Because peppermint is an antispasmodic, this means that this tea will help with coughing. This tea is very refreshing and definitely does the job in opening up the sinuses so that breathing can be improved. Aside from ingesting this tea, peppermint can also be rubbed on the throat topically to help soothe a sore throat. The following are ingredients for the peppermint tea elixir.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 handful of fresh mint
  • 1 tbsp raw honey

With these D.I.Y. elixirs and remedies, you can expect a speedy recovery to that stubborn cough and pesky cold. Instead of having to ‘wait it out’, take matters into your own hands and stop the illness right in its tracks. Make sure to consult with your doctor and ensure you don’t have any allergies to the previously listed items.
