With summer coming up, everyone wants to get in shape and show off that great beach bod. However, most people just don’t know the steps to get there. The fitness industry loves to market all of these crappy supplements at expensive prices that you really don’t need. Other then whey protein and creatine, I’d stay out of the supplement aisle, especially if you are a beginner. In today’s article, I am going to be breaking down the three fundamental ways that you can get into the best shape of your life.
What you put into your body is by far the most important thing when it comes to getting into great shape. The great news is that this doesn’t have to be a difficult process. Pick foods that are healthy that you actually enjoy and implement them into your lifestyle. Also, cut out all of the junk, sugar, and processed foods that you may eat daily. This will just slow you down. if you are looking to put on some muscle, make sure that you are in a caloric surplus. If you plan of losing fat, make sure that you are in a caloric deficit. Track your weight every morning and gauge your diet based on that.
The workout is the second most important thing when it comes to building the body you want. Don’t be the guy or girl in the gym that swipes their gym card and just aimlessly wanders around the gym looking for things to do. You have to have a routine. I would recommend starting out with multi-joint exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench press, etc. This is going to put the most muscle on your frame in the shortest amount of time. Make sure that if you are cutting, you remain doing these lifts as it will preserve the most amount of muscle. After those compound exercises, you can perform other auxiliary lifts like isolation movements to help your physique. Also, make sure cardio is implemented into your routine as this will burn away fat and keep your cardiovascular system healthy.
Sleep is when your body repairs itself. It’s crucial that you are getting at least six hours of sleep a night if you want to build a great physique. I’d recommend getting eight hours of sleep a night and also going to bed at the same time every night.
