We all strive to live a well-rounded life, one that makes us feel fulfilled, happy, joyous and excited to be alive. However, sometimes life can be challenging as problems arise and it can be difficult to live a balanced life that you yearn for. So to help you live your best and most positive life, we’ve devised a few tips for well-rounded wellness that you can incorporate into your everyday life.
This one sounds like a no-brainer, yet we all seem to neglect it. Studies have shown that more than a third of adults in America aren’t getting a sufficient amount of sleep. Sleep severely affects our mood throughout the day so if you’re not getting the recommended seven to nine hours a night, how do you expect to wake up the next morning in an energized, chipper and upbeat mood? A lack of sleep has been shown to make people more quick-tempered, emotional, and in the long run, it can even lead to anxiety and depression. By carving out time to go to bed earlier, even if it’s just one hour, you’re already one step closer to waking up in a more positive mindset.
#2 Gratitude List
To live a happier life, the first step begins with gratitude. Gratitude is a deep sense of appreciation, amazement, wonder and thankfulness. We often take our life for granted, neglecting the simple pleasures that we’ve been blessed with. The being thankful for basics that we falsely believe that everyone is entitled to, yet not everyone is privileged to have. To feel a deeper sense of appreciation and thankfulness, make a gratitude list every morning for 21 days to help build the habit. Each morning, write down three aspects of your life that you’re grateful for, ensuring to never repeat any items. By the end of the 21 days, you’ll look back and realize that your life is filled with amazing blessings that you’ve been neglecting.
#3 Emotional Control
We’ve all been there: you get in an intense argument with your partner, friend or a family member. You feel as if you’re going to implode with rage, and your emotions possess you, leading you to say hurtful comments that severely tarnish your precious relationships. However, instead of saying hurtful comments in rage, don’t react immediately. Rather, walk away and practice deep breathing exercises or meditation. As you become more calm and rational, you’ll be able to discuss the argument from a more logical standpoint.
By implementing these three simple techniques into your everyday life, you’ll not only see an improvement in your overall well being, but also in your relationships and your life situation. Investing in yourself is the most beneficial action that you can do. No one else can do it for you, only you can help improve your life.
