Trump Claims His Party Is The Party Of Health Care

President Trump feels invincible thanks to Attorney General Bill Barr’s summary of the Mueller report. Mr. Barr, a Trump loyalist, did the president a solid when he said Trump didn’t collude with the Russian government during the 2016 campaign. Barr followed that good news with his personal opinion on the obstruction of justice charges.

Mr. Trump knows the guts of the Mueller report will come to the surface eventually, but until the news that he did not collude and obstruct justice during the campaign, he’s on fire. Trump told Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to cut funding for the Special Olympics, and he got the head of the Pentagon to talk money away from other military programs, and he gave Trump $1 billion to build 57 miles of Southern border wall.

But the move that has most Republicans mumbling profanities under their breath is Trump’s plan to totally destroy Obamacare. Thanks to a Texas judge, Obamacare in its current form is unconstitutional. The judge’s ruling claims Trump took out the pre-existing clause out of the program, and that move made Obamacare illegal. That sounds like a Trump judge doing Trump’s dirty work, according to the Washington Post.

When Donald Trump dropped the health care bomb at a recent Republican luncheon, most lawmakers at the luncheon knew Trump was still drunk on the Barr news. The Republicans know health care was their kryptonite during the midterm elections.

The president knows his opponents will make health care a big issue in 2020. He knows his border wall fantasy wouldn’t stand up when the Democrats add a list of benefits to the existing Obamacare plan. Bernie Sanders even wants to add long-term care to the Affordable Care Act.

Better health care is part of the Democratic election strategy. So Trump wants to make his voter base believe his non-existent health care plan will be better than any plan the Democrats push in 2020.

If Trump is able to dismantle Obamacare, more than 12 million Americans will lose their health care coverage. And that thought is enough for some Republicans to go into damage control mode. Those Republicans know Trump could cost them their seats in 2020 if he continues to talk about getting rid of Obamacare.

But Mr. Trump is ready to fight the Democrats. He beat Mueller thanks to Barr’s shady summary report. And he thinks he will beat the Democrats with his non-existent health care plan.
