Everyone needs to be healthy. A healthy body can mean a longer life or even the opportunity to join in on certain activities, such as family reunions, weddings, or your child’s graduation.
What does it take to be healthy, however? As it turns out, having good health can be as simple as drinking enough water each day. Eating right and working out are also excellent ways to remain healthy.
The former rule of thumb is that adults should drink 64 ounces of water each day. Eventually, that rule changed, and it became recommended that adults drink their weight in ounces. Now it is said that people 18 and over should drink one gallon of water per day.
At the end of the day, though, everyone’s body is different, and everyone has different needs. For example, if you take part in intense workouts that cause you to sweat profusely, you may need more than a gallon of water.
On the other hand, if you live a sedentary lifestyle, your body may need less than a gallon of water. Consider other health factors, such as blood pressure, when determining how much water you should drink daily.
Because everyone’s body is different, there is no one size fits all when it comes to eating right. What works for one person may not work for another.
If you are a diabetic, your doctor may advise you not to eat too much fruit because of the sugar that it contains. You definitely should steer clear of processed sugar if you are insulin dependent or insulin resistant.
Most people can eat as much fruit as they’d like each day, however. Consuming fresh fruits and vegetables is an excellent way for the average person to stay healthy, and these foods grown by nature have even been shown to prevent or completely eliminate diseases and cancers.
Who doesn’t love a good workout? While it is true that not everyone enjoys vigorous workouts, some people do enjoy moderate exercise routines.
Taking brisk walks 10 minutes per day or moderate walks at a comfortable pace for 30 mins each day can help you improve or maintain your health.
On the other hand, if you are one of those people who enjoy a challenge, try some HIIT or sprints to help keep that body of yours in shape.
